asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many young people in (a) Glasgow and (b) Scotland have never had a job since leaving school.

On 14 October 1982, 6,894 young people under the age of 18 years who had not been in employment since completing full-time education were registered as unemployed at employment offices and careers offices in the Glasgow travel-to-work area. The comparable figures for Scotland was 23,881.
