HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 cc342-3W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the current purchasing power of the son's or daughter's services' tax allowance as compared with its purchasing power in 1974; and if he will uprate the allowance.

Mr. Ridley

[pursuant to his reply, 2 December 1982, c. 265]: On the basis of the change in the retail price index between April 1974 and April 1982 the current purchasing power of the allowance is £18. I have no plans to uprate the allowance.
