HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 c402W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what money has been spent by his Department's Merseyside task force since its inception: and what it was spent on.

Mr. Heseltine

The Merseyside task force has no powers to provide financial support for projects. Where financial support is required from the public sector for projects with which the task force is associated, officials of the task force, through their own Departments and in co-operation with local authorities and other agencies ensure that such support is made available through established funding programmes.

Examples of such funding programmes include housing, the urban programme, the derelict land programme, support for housing associations through the Housing Corporation, the Manpower Services Commission's programmes, and through the Department of Industry and English Industrial Estates.
