§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Defence if, in view of his answer of 4 May, Official Report, column 31, about the difficulties of communication with Her Majesty's submarines in operational conditions and the natural concealment of the submarines, he will make a statement on communications with HMS "Conqueror", on 14 May involving family messages.
§ Mr. BlakerAs my right hon. Friend indicated on 4 May, for operational reasons continuous communications with submarines are not possible. Short family messages are passed as circumstances permit and such a message was passed on 14 May.
