HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 c393W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will provide a cash allowance for heating for pensioners and families with children on supplementary benefit during this winter.

Mr. Newton

This Government have already made heating additions automatically payable to all supplementary pensioners aged 70 or over and to all supplementary beneficiaries with children under five. These claimants and other supplementary beneficiaries may also qualify for further help with heating, for example, because of poor health or accommodation which is difficult or expensive to heat.
