HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 c333W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Prime Minister what statements were made to journalists by officials on her staff on 27 and 28 November relating to the availability to Her Majesty's Government on or after 1 May of the information that the Argentine Government were prepared to withdraw from the Falkland Islands on the basis of Security Council resolution 502, and relating to the sinking of the cruiser "General Belgrano" on 2 May.

The Prime Minister

My officials briefed journalists only on the latter point. The duty press officer said that the "General Belgrano" was attacked because it posed a threat to British forces.
