§ Mr. McTaggartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the percentage unemployment rate in the construction industry in Glasgow; and how many craftsmen in each of the respective trades are unemployed.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherOn 13 May 1982, the last date for which information is available, the number of people registered as unemployed in the Glasgow travel-to-work area who had last worked in the construction industry represented 31 per cent. of the labour force in the industry locally. The percentage is based on the 1978 census of employment and is subject to revision when later census results become available.
The occupational analysis of unemployed workers whose last employment was in the construction industry has been discontinued. It was last completed in October 1981 when the numbers of unemployed workers registered for employment in each of the building trades listed were as shown in the table below.
