asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many of those persons registered as unemployed in the various employment offices covering the Birmingham area have been unemployed (a) between six and 12 months, (b) between one and two years and (c) over two years, expressed both in absolute numbers and as percentages.

The following table gives the numbers registered as unemployed (old basis) at 14 October in the Birmingham travel-to-work area for the lengths of time specified and expresses these numbers as percentages of the total number registered as unemployed in the area.
