HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 c381W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if agricultural export subsidies constitute one of the basic principles of the common agricultural policy which are accepted by Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

Whilst the Government continue to press for improvements in the operation of the common agricultural policy, they recognise the need in present circumstances for export refunds as a mechanism for enabling surplus produce to be sold in other countries at the prevailing world market price in conformity with agreed international trade rules.
