§ Mr. Stottasked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) on what basis he has calculated the provisional figures for revenue grant in 1980 to 1984 to the metropolitan counties and the Greater London Council as set out in the schedule to Cmnd. 8735;
(2) what formulation he used to determine the provisional allocation of the total revenue grant between each of the six metropolitan counties and the Greater London Council.
§ Mr. EyreThe same considerations as those expressed in the Transport Bill as introduced, including the overall national picture on resources for local transport, the benefit that can be firmly identified would result from the support and the levels of present and past expenditure related among other things to recent fares policies and service changes. The figures represent my judgment at this stage as to what is a reasonable level of subsidy in all these circumstances and which on that account should be clearly lawful.
