HC Deb 03 December 1982 vol 33 c314W
Mr. Mates

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is now in a position to make a further announcement about the implementation of revised import safeguards against the introduction of Newcastle disease.

Mr. Peter Walker

The Dutch authorities have now provided detailed assurances in relation to our requirements on the animal health rules to be applied to their exports to Great Britain of poultry meat and eggs. They have also undertaken to provide the appropriate certification for such exports. As a result, imports will be permitted from 6 December in conformity with the general import rules which I deposited in the Library of the House following my announcement on 4 November.—[Vol. 31, c. 2.]
