D. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make additional resources available to enable family practitioner committees to have a high standard of patient recall for cervical cytology, particularly amongst those women under the age of 35 years.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

I refer the hon. Member to my replies to my hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Withington (Mr. Silvester) on 21 December 1981–[Vol. 15, c.297]—and 26 October 1982–[Vol. 29, c. 386]—and my hon. and learned Friend's reply to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton, North-East (Mrs. Short) on 16 June 1982–[Vol. 25, c. 289.] Beyond this there are no plans to make additional resources available to health authorities for cervical cytology recall.
