(2) how many coal-fired power stations are due for closure in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987, respectively; and what is the annual consumption of coal of the power stations closing in each year.
§ Mr. GrayThe CEGB reviews power station closures annually.
No decisions on closures have been taken for 1984 onwards. The board recently announced the following closures for 1983:
- (a) Coal Fired: Acton Lane, Battersea B, Cliff Quay (part), Connah's Quay (part), Deptford, Doncaster, Drakelow A (part), Goldington, Huncoat (part), Keadby (part), North Tees C, Skelton Grange A, Staythorpe A, Stourport B (part), West Ham.
- (b) Oil Fired: Marchwood.
I am advised by the CEGB that the total coal consumption at the above coal-fired stations in the last financial year was 1.45 million tonnes.
