§ Mr. Trotterasked the Prime Minister whether Her Majesty's Government will express their views to the European Court in the current case concerning the German butter boats, having regard to the implications for the future of duty-free privileges on ships and aircraft between the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Economic Community.
§ The Prime MinisterWe are preparing a legal case for possible presentation. In the meantime we will support any proposals for Community legislation which would protect the excise and VAT relief for the foreseeable future.
