HC Deb 29 April 1982 vol 22 cc350-1W
18. Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many cows there are in the beef breeding herd in Northern Ireland at the latest available date.

Mr. Adam Butler

There were 201,400 beef breeding cows recorded in the 1 December 1981 agricultural census. It is estimated that there are an additional 3,700 beef cows on very small holdings not included in the main census.
