§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether any approaches were made by Messrs. Christian Salvesen Ltd. to his Department prior to the award of the South Georgia whaling station salvage contract to an Argentine scrap metal dealer.
§ Mr. OnslowChristian Salvesen Ltd. informed the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Falkland Island Government in 1978 of its intention to sell its surplus equipment at South Georgia to Mr. Davidoff, an Argentine scrap metal dealer. The contract was a straightforward commercial transaction, but Salvesen Ltd. and Mr. Davidoff were advised at the time that normal immigration procedures would have to be followed.
