§ Mr. McTaggartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the current ratio of the number of those unemployed in Glasgow to the number of registered job vacancies; and what was the corresponding ratio in May 1979.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThe following table gives the number of people registered as unemployed at, and unfilled vacancies notified to, employment offices and career offices within Glasgow City in April 1982 and May 1979. The vacancy figures do not purport to be a measure of all vacancies in the economy and, because of possible duplication between the vacancies notified to employment offices and career offices, the two figures should not be added together: they cannot therefore be used to provide the ratios requested.
