§ 27. Mr. Stoddartasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has any proposals to reduce the number of battlefield nuclear weapons in Europe.
§ Mr. BlakerThe nuclear warheads assigned to short-range delivery systems manned by the United Kingdom and other allies are provided by the United States under "dual key" arrangements. In December 1979 the United States announced its intention to withdraw unilaterally 1,000 warheads from its nuclear stockpile in Europe. This withdrawal has now been completed. The future composition and size of NATO's battlefield nuclear warhead stockpile in Europe is currently part of an Alliance study.
