§ Mr. Morganasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the economic damage that is being caused to Llangollen, Clwyd, on account of the closure of a large section of the Llangollen canal in the neighourhood of the town, he will consider making a grant in aid towards the cost of repairing the canal banks in order to bring the waterway back into full service as expeditiously as possible.
§ Mr. Giles ShawWe have already announced the provision of extra grant aid for 1982–83 to assist the British Waterways Board with maintenance of its network, but repair of the recent breach in the Llangollen canal is a matter for the board to consider in deciding their own priorities for expenditure.
