HC Deb 26 April 1982 vol 22 c213W
Sir Anthony Meyer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take measures to alleviate the hardship caused to British pensioners of Argentine corporations by the cessation of their pension payments in the present emergency.

Mr. Rossi

Pensioners of Argentine corporations resident in Great Britain whose payments cease during the emergency can receive supplementary benefit provided they satisfy the normal qualifying conditions. Supplementary benefit officers are being advised by the chief supplementary benefit officer that if a pension payment is frozen in these circumstances and is not in consequence available to a claimant it should not be taken into account in assessing his resources.
