§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether medical consultants in private practice may recruit nurses and secretaries from the National Health Service for their private practice (a) in a part-time capacity or (b) in a full-time capacity.
§ Mr. John MacKayIt is open to consultants conducting private practice outside hospitals, as it is to other employers, to offer employment to members of NHS staff. Where a consultant undertakes private practice in an NHS hospital, however, the health board is responsible for making available, and charging a patient for, the services of other staff.
