HC Deb 22 April 1982 vol 22 cc134-5W
Mr. Winnick

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what surveys are now being undertaken by his Department in the Walsall, North constituency regarding the erection of noise barriers in order to provide help for householders affected by the M6 motorway; what noise barriers have been agreed to in the area concerned; and when they are now likely to be erected.

Mrs. Chalker

The Department is proposing to erect two noise barriers along the M6 motorway in the Walsall, North constituency; one on the east side of the M6 from Hadley Road to Bentley Lane, and one on the west side from Wood Lane to Lichfield Road.

The survey work now being undertaken involves site measurements in order to prepare plans for the location of the barriers.

We plan to start work on both these in the latter half of this year.
