§ Dr. BoysonThe Department's school meals census for October 1981, an analysis of which is held in the Library, shows 71 local education authorities in England—73 per cent.—providing free school meals for children in addition to those from families receiving supplementary benefit or family income supplement. The 1979 scale is used by 45 of these authorities; in all but one case, this has been updated.
