§ 28. Mr. Greenwayasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether his Department has given any advice on the minimum time per week which schools should devote to religious education.
§ Dr. BoysonThis is a matter for the schools themselves to decide, taking into account the provisions of the Education Act 1944; but, as I said in the House on 8 April, I strongly deplore the custom which has crept in of dropping religious education altogether in the fourth and fifth years in some secondary schools.
