HC Deb 19 April 1982 vol 22 c39W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much money has been provided for Mudiad Ysgolian Meithrin for each year since 1979.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Mudiad Ysgolian Meithrin receives an annual contribution towards its headquarters administration costs under section 64 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 1968 and a separate grant under section 26 of the Development of Rural Wales Act 1976 for the purposes of providing help to individual groups in recognition of their contribution to the wellbeing and development of the Welsh language.

Grants for each financial year since 1979 have been as follows:

HQ Grant £ Groups Grant £
1979–80 70,000 25,000
1980–81 87,000 30,000
1981–82 94,000 165,000

My right hon. Friend announced on March 18 that the groups grant in 1982–83 will be £180,000 and an announcement regarding the headquarters grant will be made very soon.
