HC Deb 19 April 1982 vol 22 c50W
Dr. Mawhinney

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the allocation for home improvement grants to the Peterborough city council for the years 1981–82 and 1982–83.

Mr. Stanley

Housing investment programme allocations are given in a single block, and it is for authorities themselves to decide how much to spend on particular activities. The HIP allocations to Peterborough city council were £2.9 million for 1981–82 and £3.2 million for 1982–83. In addition, Peterborough is of course free to increase its allocations on account of capital receipts. Following the Chancellor's Budget Statement, provisional allocations of a further £74.5 million to authorities in England will be made very shortly. These allocations, unlike the general HIP allocations announced on 22 December, will be for home improvement grants only.
