§ Mr. Ridley[pursuant to his reply, 8 April 1982, c. 449]: I regret that the information is not available. Statistics on estates passing on death are published by Inland Revenue but coverage is limited to those estates where probate or letters of administration are required. These estates cover less than half of all deaths. The coverage of estates of less than £5,000 is low.
