§ Mr. Murphyasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on Government policy on the recommendation of the Transport Committee regarding London Country Buses' accrued debt.
§ Mr. EyreThe Government explained in their observations on the recommendations contained in the fifth report of the Committee, which were published in the Committee's first special report for the Session 1981–82 (HC 152) that the capital structure of the National Bus Company would be examined very carefully in the light of the report commissioned from the consultants Touche Ross and Company on the allocation of the company's debt between its subsidiaries. The views of the Government on the position of London Country Bus Services were set out in the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend on 5 March.—[Vol. 19, c.261–2].
