HC Deb 05 April 1982 vol 21 c258W
Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what steps he is taking to alleviate the present disruption of traffic on the A40 at Perivale during current road works; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

Major improvements to very busy roads that will greatly benefit traffic flow and safety do cause problems, regrettably, during construction. In conjunction with the Metropolitan Police and Ealing borough council, we are seeking every reasonable way to minimise congestion at Perivale. For example, adjustments have recently been made to the traffic signals to ease the flow of traffic using the A40; and an additional lane for traffic travelling towards London is soon to be provided at the junction.
