HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c451W

Mr. Dafydd Wigley asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what weekly pension has been payable to widows of persons who have died as a result of industrial disease, over and above the level of nominal widows pension or retirement pension, in each of the past 12 years; and if he will now take steps to increase payments.

Mrs. Chalker: Throughout the past 12 years, the weekly pension payable to the widows of men who have died as a result of an industrial disease has exceeded the standard rate of the main scheme widows' pension and retirement pension by 55p.

The Government will shortly announce their proposals for industrial death benefit resulting from the review of the industrial injuries benefit scheme.
