HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 cc441-2W

Mr. Kinnock asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what reply he has sent to Mr. Bernard Barker, head of Stanground comprehensive school, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, who wrote to inform him that he believes that the school is currently in breach of the Education Act 1944 due to failure to provide sufficient materials for teaching.

Sir Keith Joseph: Mr. Barker's letter is being considered and a reply will be sent as soon as possible. I understand Cambridgeshire local education authority is currently assessing the effects of its economy measures on individual schools, so as to be sure that there will be none with insufficient essential materials.
