§ Mr. Michael Brown asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list in the Official Report the 461W duties and functions of his special political adviser, the terms and conditions of employment and the total cost to public funds per annum.
§ Mr. Prior: I have appointed a special adviser to assist me in my responsibilities at the Northern Ireland Office. His terms and conditions of employment are based on those of civil servants and his service will last no longer than my present appointment. It is not possible to provide an estimate of the cost of his appointment to public funds as it is not the practice to publish details of individual salaries.
