HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 c417W

Mr. David Atkinson asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he has yet received the report from the Director General of Fair Trading about the Price Marketing (Bargain Offers) Order 1979, to which he referred in his reply to the hon. Member for Bournemouth, East on 18 February; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Sally Oppenheim:

Yes. I am very grateful to the Director General for the full review which he has made of the order and for his advice about what changes should be made in the law. The Director General is publishing his report today and I have placed copies in the Library. I shall consider the report urgently and shall, of course, consult interested parties before deciding what action to take. Meanwhile, I hope that those affected by the order will consider and let me have their views on the Director General's recommendations.
