§ Mr. Greville Janner asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) whether, when the reviews by health authorities of the procedures by which they dispose of confidential material are completed, he will institute an inquiry into this matter;
§ (2) by what date he has asked health authorities to complete their review of the procedures by which they dispose of confidential material;
§ (3) what steps he has taken to ensure that health authorities satisfactorily review procedures for the destruction of confidential material as requested by him.
450W§ Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg: We have asked health authorities to review urgently their procedures for the destruction of confidential records, and it is now up to individual authorities to satisfy themselves that proper arrangements are made. I do not think that an inquiry is necessary, nor have I called for reports.
