HC Deb 29 October 1981 vol 10 cc405-3W

Mr. Onslow asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what recent representations he has received from the general aviation industry about the level of taxation on avgas; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bruce—Gardyne: Following the undertaking that my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer gave the House on 30 April that the case for a reduction in the duty on avgas would be properly examined, we have received a number of representations on behalf of trade organisations and individuals in the general aviation industry. The review of the duty structure is continuing with the aim of reaching a decision in good time for next year's Finance Bill.
