Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) when he expects the ophthalmic ward at Warrington general hospital to be opened;

  1. what was the estimated budget required for fully utilising Warrington general hospital when it opened; how many staff were required overall; what was the staffing and the numbers required in each category; what is the present staffing in each category; and what will be the staffing in each category when the proposed cuts have taken place;
  2. what is the reduction in the budget at Warrington general hospital; what staff cuts this will involve; what is the reduction in the nursing services budget at Warrington general hospital; and what reduction in the number of nurses this will involve;
  3. what effect the reduction in staff will have on ward staffing at Warrington general hospital; whether the closure of any wards is proposed; and what will be the effect on services offered to the public;
  4. 370
  5. whether there are any plans to deploy staff made redundant at Warrington general hospital in any other sector of the National Health Service; and, if so, where.
