HC Deb 28 October 1981 vol 10 c390W
25. Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what assistance he plans to give to the repair of the sea defences at Amble, Northumberland.

Mr. Giles Shaw:

The Alnwick district council is already receiving grant towards the cost of reconstructing the south pier breakwater at Amble. With regard to the reconstruction of the north pier breakwater the council is carrying out an economic appraisal of this scheme to establish the beneficiaries. When this appraisal is received the scheme will be assessed and, if approved, the application for grant will be determined.
