HC Deb 28 October 1981 vol 10 c375W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what efforts are being made through the agencies of his Department to fill the 2,000 estimated vacancies within the postal services; and what has been done to secure the filling of those vacancies with unemployed persons.

Mr. Peter Morrison:

The Manpower Services Commission co-operates closely with the Post Office on recruitment matters. I understand that the Post Office is not aware of difficulties in filling its vacancies at present. When the Post Office notifies vacancies to the Manpower Services Commission's jobcenters and local offices they are brought rapidly to the attention of unemployed people who might be suitable.
