§ Mr. George Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what recommendations concerning the future of the dental therapists service were made by the Court report of 1976, the Royal Commission of 1979 and the Nuffield report of 1980.
§ Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg:The Court report recommended the establishment in the provinces of two new training schools, similar in size and approach to the School for Dental Auxiliaries, New Cross.
The Royal Commission on the National Health Service endorsed the recommendation of the Court committee for an expansion of training facilities for dental auxiliaries.
The Nuffield report made no specific recommendation on dental therapists but anticipated that changes in their duties would occur to permit them to become even more useful members of the dental team in all branches of the dental services, playing a part in providing routine care for adults as well as children.
