HC Deb 27 October 1981 vol 10 c308W
Mr. Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the poor state of television reception in the area of Pwllglas, Ruthin, Clwyd, if he will take steps to improve it.

Mr. Mayhew:

As my right hon. Friend explained in a reply of 20 July to my hon. Friend's question about television reception in Llangwm—[Vol. 9, c. 3]—the primary responsibility for extending the coverage of uhf television services rests with the broadcasting authorities. They are aware that the Pwllglas area is poorly served by the Moel-y-Parc transmitter on account of local topography. We understand that the population concerned is too small to benefit from phase II of the uhf engineering programme, but that the authorities will be considering the possiblity of a relay station for the area in the planning of phase III of the programme.
