Mr. Parry

pasked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received concerning the proposed closure of the Liverpool to Belfast ferry; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Howell:

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland has taken the lead on the discussions about the future of the service and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade is responsible for shipping policy. I have received three letters from hon. Members and three from members of the public about the proposed closure.
