HC Deb 27 October 1981 vol 10 cc300-1W
Mr. Bulmer

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much money has been given in financial support to the carpet industry since 1 January 1975 by his Department; what form this assistance has taken; and under which schemes, including the various schemes to promote employment.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher:

Since 1 January 1975, 10 offers of selective financial assistance under section 7 of the 1972 Industry Act have been made to companies in the carpet industry in Scotland by my Department. The total value of the assistance offered was £1.83 million, of which 93 per cent. was by grant and the rest by loan.

I regret that information on assistance to the carpet industry under the special employment measures is not available.
