§ 19. Mr. Garel Jones asked the Secretary of State for Industry how productivity in the steel industry in Wales has changed since January 1980.
§ Mr. Norman Lamont:The British Steel Corporation's plants at Port Talbot and Llanwern account for the bulk of steel making in Wales. I understand the corporation's figures show that since January 1980 productivity at each plant has improved from 9.1 man-hours per tonne to 5.1 at Port Talbot and 7.0 to 4.7 at Llanwern.
