Mr. Knox asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much revenue has been raised by Customs and Excise over the past year; and what proportion of Government revenue this accounts for.

In the period 1 October 1980 to 30 September 1981 the revenue raised by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise was £22,902 million and this accounted for 34 per cent. of the revenue of the Consolidated Fund.
