§ Sir Hector Monro asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state for each housing authority the number of council houses sold in the last convenient 12 months and the number of applications to buy that are outstanding.
§ Mr. Younger:The information requested is given in the following table. The sales figures refer only to completed sales. Cases where missives have been concluded but the sale is not yet completed are not included either in the sales figures or in the figures for outstanding applications; the number of such cases cannot be identified precisely but is estimated at between 4,000 and 5,000 for Scotland as a whole. The figures on outstanding applications to purchase are based on information supplied by authorities at the end of September 1981 and relate to applications under part I of the Tenants' Rights, Etc. (Scotland) Act 1980. The figures will, however, include small numbers of applications either where the tenant has received an offer to sell but has decided not to proceed with the purchase or where a landlord authority has been obliged, under the terms of the Act, to issue a notice of refusal. I do not have reliable 249W information about outstanding applications to local authorities for voluntary sales. In addition, the SSHA and new towns have sold 3,343 houses during this period and have approximately 5,200 applications to purchase outstanding.
