HC Deb 26 October 1981 vol 10 c292W

Mr. Onslow asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent representations he has received from anglers concerning the implementation of part II of the Control of Pollution Act 1976; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Giles Shaw:

Since my right hon. Friend met the National Anglers Council in July about 60 letters from both individual anglers and angling organisations have been received, all urging the speedy implementation of part II. We have explained that no decision can be reached until we have further considered the cost implications of implementation and its possible effect on water charges. We are currently reviewing the position in the light of the latest information on that subject as well as the recent representations.
