HC Deb 23 October 1981 vol 10 c196W

Mr. McQuarrie asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to establish a record of all agricultural land which has been sold in Scotland to institutions and pension funds in the years 1979, 1980 and the first six months of 1981, with the names of the purchasers.

Mr. Younger:

The Northfield committee, which reported in 1979, recommended that these acquisitions should be closely monitored and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland has maintained records of such acquisitions, including those by pension funds, since 1980.
