HC Deb 21 October 1981 vol 10 c141W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the latest unemployment figures for the Province.

Mr. Adam Butler:

The Northern Ireland unemployment figure for October is 112,224, a rate of 19.5 per cent. This is a decrease of 1,738 since last month, but the underlying trend is still upwards. The Government view such a high level of unemployment as a matter of very grave concern.
