§ Mr. Gordon Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will ensure that resources are available for research into the incidence of psychiatric disturbance among children in substitute care in institutions—outwith the list D school system—to assess their treatment needs and to determine staffing and other resource requirements.
§ Mr. Allan Stewart:Applications for Government funding of research projects are considered on their merits and on the availability of resources within planned budgets. The treatment needs of children in care and the staffing and other resource requirements involved are the responsibility of the local authority or other governing body of the appropriate social work establishment.
