HC Deb 20 October 1981 vol 10 c93W
33 Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Defence, in view of the official statement by the Government of the United States of America that large numbers of American Service men, including those overseas, are under the influence of drugs, if he will take whatever action is necessary, including legislation, to enable him to investigate the extent to which this is happening at American Service bases in the United Kingdom, especially those housing nuclear weapons.

Mr. Blaker:

No. The United States Forces in this country have a comprehensive programme to counter drug abuse and there are special screening procedures for personnel engaged in sensitive areas.
